Many people of different ages have been affected by the economy in one way or another. Some students have lost their jobs and between school expenses, rent, or even money just to eat they don't know how they are going to make ends meet. With summer approaching students may be in need of some fresh ideas for summer jobs. "I'm looking for anything in the summer, I'm looking for a part-time job to help me pay for gas," said Stephanie Lisa, 24, a criminal justice major at the Dale Mabry campus.

IKEA, an international furniture and accessory chain store, is now hiring 400 positions for the upcoming summer. A new IKEA store is being built right near one of our own campuses, on Adamo Drive, near Ybor City. The store is looking to fill a wide range of positions anywhere from sales help to warehouse and stock room personnel, or even customer service. For more information about the job openings students can go to www.ikea-usa.com.

The AMC theatres on Anderson Road and Westshore Plaza are both hiring a couple of different positions for each location. Among the many perks of this job are free movies, flexible schedules, fun times, and advancement opportunities. As college students, all of these things can help out in more ways than one. The free movie tickets may sound great, but AMC also offers health insurance for their employees. Both locations are looking for theatre staff and manager trainees, so whichever way you choose to go they have opportunities available for you. For more information, or just to apply, go to www.snagajob.com.

Camp Frontier, a children's summer camp located in Wimauma, is also hiring. The camp consists of four two- week overnights, and eight one- day sessions. The camp is looking for counselors to help boys and girls ages 7 to 17, with activities involving horses, sports, arts, and computers. Apply now at www.campfrontier.com or call 888-977-2267.

According to the HCC website, the career center listed some job search interview tips. Research both your employer and the business, and prepare a resume. Some other tips for a successful interview are to dress appropriately and pay close attention to your body language when interviewing. Another approach is to go online and log onto websites like www.monster.com or www.snagajob.com, put in all of the specifics and find job openings that are fit for you.

Many people would be surprised what they may find when looking on these types of websites. Make sure you have a resume and show whatever you have accomplished at your other jobs. The HCC Career Center, right here at school, can help you create a resume if you don't have one yet. Employers want to see what you can bring to their business, and what you can help them accomplish.

Finally, look for jobs that go with the season. For example, its summer, so look for jobs at amusement parks, as lifeguards, or at camps that will need extra help during this time. Look for places that will have more business during the summer, as they are going to have a larger demand for help and it will give you a better chance to land a job.
