“Don’t bite the hand that feeds you.” Florida U.S. Attorney Robert O’Neill said. On February 20, 2013, O’Neill took the time to speak to students at Hillsborough Community College. He shed light on his great passion for learning and encouraged students to find their passion and pick a career that keeps them interested. He shared stories of particular crimes, events and shed some light on the power of law.

During one particular story on drug trafficking, he explained how the combined effort of different law enforcement agencies came together to take down a transcontinental crime ring. On one day, 22 people were arrested from Miami, Spain, California, New York, Pakistan and Thailand through a joint task force involving a variety of agencies. He also informed attendees of possible threats in our local community from white collar crimes to terrorism.

U.S Attorney Robert O’Neill is no ordinary lawyer. Originally from the Bronx, O’Neill started out as an assistant district attorney in Manhattan. A majority of his legal career was prosecuting cases for the government, including stints as an assistant U.S. attorney in Miami and deputy chief in charge of litigation for the U.S. Department of Justice’s Narcotic and Dangerous Drugs Section. O’Neill graduated from Fordham University in New York. He has worked on numerous trials, and most recently was inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers for his work.
