Moms do it. Dads do it. Families do it. Honey Boo Boo’s mom does it too! I have even started following this trend because it is ACTUALLY a great idea. Couponing is a trend that has swept the nation over the past couple of years. 78.3% of Americans had joined in the saving craze as of 2010. This community of penny pinchers saved over 4.5 billion dollars in 2011 alone by using coupons.

Couponing has different levels of intensity and each coupon cutter differs on technique. Some couponers have multiple Sunday papers sent to their house and clip the coupons every week. They save the coupons all together in binders in order to wait for the prime opportunity to combine the offers between coupons and store weekly deals to maximize savings. Others clip the coupons each week and use them then and there. As a new couponer, it is good to begin by picking up the weekly ads in the store in order to use the deals during your trip. When you begin understand how promotions work. You can begin to “stock pile” your papers and coupons as the experts call it.

There are many different websites out there to assist new and learning coupon clippers. TrueCouponing.com is a website that details each stores weekily coupons and shares the best deals. They encourage stock piling, but also cater to the quick couponers with printable coupons offered. This website shares many deals of local stores from our areas such as Publix and CVS. Beyond their webpage, True Couponing holds seminars in community areas in order to teach people the basics of avid couponing.

Couponing is a trend that does not seem to be dying out anytime soon. Veronica Marsh, mother of five children and two dogs, has just begun couponing. “I began about a month ago and have already saved so much,” said Marsh. Since logging on to multiple couponing websites after it was suggested by a friend who had success with couponing herself, Marsh states she has saved over two hundred dollars. “I’m not picky with brands, so it allows me to save more than expected,” says Marsh over her new coupon organizer. She suggests that new couponers ease their way into the coupon craziness. “It really is a saver good for a family of any size. It can be really easy if you utilize all of the resources that are out there. When it doubt, Google it,” Marsh concluded. This trend is perfect for those who are looking to save a bit of money or a lot of money. Coupon statistics show that the use of coupons is on the rise and so are the savings.
