Through the magic of convergent media, HCC’s Dr. Richard F. Gaspar recorded the song, “I remember Emelé”, with platinum artist Mr. Eliot Sloan. Sloan is one of the original members and lead singer of Blessid Union of Souls. Blessid Union of Souls earned eight Top 40 hits and had a #1 record in the US in the 1990s.
Although 778 miles apart, Gaspar and Sloan collaborated to record the song through the use of Audacity and digital file sharing. Gaspar says, “It was an honor to have such an amazing and talented artist bring my lyrics to life.” The song is dedicated to his wife Judith Gaspar, an advising generalist at the Plant City campus.
The song is a tribute to the aspirations of their middle daughter, Emele.

This is a beautiful song and a touching tribute to your daughter. I believe that every child deserves such support, dedication, and the encouragement to pursue their dreams. If they did, this world would no doubt be a better place. Way to go, Rick!
