As students wrap up another incredible year at Hillsborough Community College (HCC), the college is buzzing with excitement over the impressive achievements of our Zero Textbook Cost (ZTC) program.
Thanks to the hard work of the faculty and staff, HCC continues to lead the way in Florida, saving students a staggering $7.5 million over the past three years.
This year, the college is particularly excited about the launch of the AI OER Creation Program Pilot, which positions HCC as a national frontrunner in open educational resources.
This program will be a hot topic at the upcoming Spring In-Service, especially as the college prepares to unveil the International Relations OER textbook.
In addition, students want to give a shoutout to the authors working on the Human Anatomy and Physiology I textbook. They will be sharing their experiences on how they utilized AI to enhance accessibility in their projects.
HCC also boasts the only self-hosted Pressbooks system in Florida, with 70 textbooks currently in production, showcasing the commitment to innovative learning resources.
HCC’s expertise is gaining national recognition, as college employees frequently receive invitations to deliver keynote presentations and publish findings.
As HCC continues to promote ZTC courses, it’s important for students to remember that they have the option to opt out of the Hawk Book Bundle. Failing to do so each semester means there will be charges for all ZTC courses as well as non-ZTC courses.
