The Black, Brown & College Bound (BBCB) Summit took place from March 5 to March 8. Established in 2006, this event aims to support students, particularly Black and Hispanic males, in achieving success in college. Over the years, it has evolved into a significant gathering where students, educators, and professionals convene to discuss education and success.
This year’s summit featured several prominent speakers, including keynote speaker and actor Omari Hardwick. During an interview, Hardwick shared how education played a significant role in his life and success. Other notable speakers included NASA engineer and astronaut José M. Hernández and U.S. women’s track and field coach LaTanya Sheffield. Each speaker conveyed powerful messages about overcoming challenges, working diligently, and maintaining perseverance.
Attendees expressed that the summit was highly impactful. One student remarked that hearing from successful individuals who share similar backgrounds instilled a greater sense of confidence regarding his future.
