Hillsborough College speech faculty pose with the student speech participants.
The HC Commencement Speech Contest was held March 12 at DSTU 111. Students from all campuses participated. The students delivered speeches in which they reflected on their HC experience, shared their struggles, recognized support from professors, counselors and family members and sent out messages of inspiration. The Commencement Speech Contest committee — speech communication professors from all campuses — selected the contest winner, Grace Burris, a student from the Plant City campus. Burris delivered a well-crafted speech with poise and effective body language. Burris is enrolled in the Honors Program and is a volunteer, student senator and student leader.
